Re: [OT] (floppy?? and win 95) two questions -> VMware

Our Family is in a very similar situation to JH. We have Mom and Dad both
working in home office and two teenage boys all working on four networked
computers. Everybody needs some windows stuff but is tired and frustrated
with regularly reformatting. So finally we decide to put in a big mother
Linux machine to act as house mother for all those cry baby windows boxes.
We think it will finally work out once we get over a very steep learning
curve. We also consider VMware a big boost in helping the migration to
Linux because you don't have to boot back and forth!! It is tremendous.
Watching windows 98 pompously installing itself on a virtual machine in a
little window under gnome is an eerie and powerful experience. Can you
believe, I run Autocad 14 under windows 98/VMware!!!

By the way we were able to get VMware running on a stock Debian kernel once
we figured out where the kernel header files really were. The only problem
now is that it only runs under root because it says user doesn't have write
permission or the path is wrong even though all the write permissions in
every related file are set and the path is definitely correct. Any
suggestions anyone?

Thanks to everyone who's already helped us along the way

Hans & Galen Elfert
