experience with the HP 2100C scanner?
hey,
does anyone out there have experience with the HP2100C scanner and
using it in linux? it's USB, but Debian Potato (2.2.18pre21) seems to
be fine with that. at least...:
orange:~# lsmod
Module Size Used by
...
scanner 4228 0 (unused)
usbcore 41804 0 [usbkbd scanner usbmouse]
...
and
orange:/lib/modules/2.2.18pre21/usb# ls {scanner,usb*}.o
scanner.o usb-storage.o usbcore.o usbmouse.o
usb-ohci.o usb-uhci.o usbkbd.o usbserial.o
furthermore, SANE 1.04 is installed.
but:
orange:/usr/local/bin# find-scanner
# If your scanner uses SCSI, you must have a driver for your SCSI
# adaptor and support for SCSI Generic (sg) in your Operating System
# in order for the scanner to be used with SANE. If your scanner is
# NOT listed above, check that you have installed the drivers.
orange:/usr/local/bin# ./scanimage -L
No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something
different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).
of course, the scanner is on and connected, but /proc/bus/usb, even
though it exists, is empty.
i'd much rather not switch to 2.4.2 until there is a nice debian
package for it. so how can i do it? why is usb working with
2.2.18pre21 in the first place? and where to go from there?
martin; (greetings from the heart of the sun.)
