Re: Where should top-level info menu (dir) for emacs be?

Depends of the definition of "Info-directory-list".  On my system
(2.2r2 with GNU Emacs 20.7.2) the default value is

("/usr/local/lib/info/" "/usr/local/info/" "/usr/share/info/"
"/usr/info" "/usr/share/info/" "/usr/info" "/usr/share/info") 

(Not sure why all the multiple listings?)  and
"/usr/share/info->/usr/info".  The "dir" file containing all the links
to the info files is in /usr/info.
