you don't actually need anything else! check if you have the sshd daemon
running (ps ax | grep sshd) and check /etc/inetd.conf to see if the
telnet line is commented out. man inetd.conf will help you out.

then try 

$ telnet localhost

and

$ ssh localhost

remember you can't telnet as root!
