Problem with xterm

Hello,

  I'm having a problem with the xterm. Sometime, when a launch lots of
  xterm, the system forget who is connected ... Then, the result of w is
  strange :

$ w
  4:45am  up 32 min,  4 users,  load average: 0.04, 0.08, 0.03
USER TTY FROM LOGIN@ IDLE JCPU PCPU WHAT
keiichi  vc/1     -                04:40am  2:16   0.07s  0.07s  -bash
keiichi  vc/2     -                04:40am  4:41   0.08s  0.08s  -bash
keiichi  vc/3     -                04:40am  4:36   0.08s  0.08s  -bash
keiichi  vc/4     -                04:40am  4:32   0.07s  0.07s  -bash
$ tty
/dev/vc/6

  And after I logged out, last say I'm still logged in until the same
  user log on the same virtual console and logout.

  I'm wondering if this is a bug in xterm, or in my setup since it
  appeared when I switched from kernel 2.2.18 to 2.4.0 ... Has anybody
  else noticed this strange behaviour ?

Bye
