Uh...NO.  As a G450 owner, that's TOO MUCH WORK.  The XFree86 project driver does not work with the G450's, you need to get the one from Matrox.  Just get a V3 3000 with the S-Video out (about $120US) and an S-to-Composite converter (Radio Shack is the only place you /can't/ get one) to pipe it out to a TV.  For extra geek-factor, use the Rotate option in your XF86Config-4 file and roll the TV over :).
