Installing StarOffice 3.1.4 from rpms (libc >= 5.4.4; Motif 2.0)

I'd like to try StarOffice 3.1.4 on a 486 (need just StarWriter and
not the Desktop). I have the following components (CD-ROM, BTW for
german readers: from Kofler 3rd. ed.):

Star-Office-common-3.1.4.i386.rpm
Star-Office-german-3.1.4.i386.rpm
Star-Office-statbin-3.1.4.i386.rpm # no Motif
Star-Office-dynbin-3.1.4.i386.rpm # Motif 2.0

My problem: alien doesn't produce a working something. The whole stuff
is compiled against libc >= 5.4.4. Any hints, also about Motif (The
documentation says it's faster with Motif)? My system: woody/progeny.
