I tried to help by showing where it was coming from on 'my' system.
dpkg -S `which rpcinfo`
but I forgot the result :-( sorry
netbase: /usr/bin/rpcinfo
Now, as to Why "doesn't netkit-inetd depend on that" you will have to
ask the maintainer, that question.
