For GNOME, there is a package called electric ears that appears in the
software listing on http://www.gnome.org . It does have a .deb package,
although last time I looked it wasn't actually *in* debian. My
experience with it was moderately positive - the UI was nice and it did
its job, although it still seemed a little on the flakey side.
