I had a similar problem. Try removing the xfonts-100dpi package (it seems 
the dpi value isn't honoured anymore - dunno why).

If this doesn't help, you can try tweaking X Resources. The
XWindow-User-HOWTO (install doc-linux-text or dox-linux-html) has a
good explanation of what's involved.
