I'm not sure about the Gimp, but you can change the fonts that Netscape uses by
changing the resource values in your ~/.Xresources file. There should be a
Netscape.ad file on your system (probably /usr/local/netscape/Xetscape.ad) that will
show you what resources can be changed. For a start, mine are as follows. You'll
probably have to tweak the size to your liking.

Netscape*fontList: -*-helvetica-medium-r-*-*-*-110-*-*-*-*-iso8859-*
Netscape*XmTextField.fontList: -*-helvetica-medium-r-*-*-*-110-*-*-*-*-iso8859-*
Netscape*XmText.fontList: -*-helvetica-medium-r-*-*-*-110-*-*-*-*-iso8859-*
Netscape*XmList*fontList: -*-helvetica-medium-r-*-*-*-110-*-*-*-*-iso8859-*

No idea.

Try changing the order your fonts are listed in /etc/X11/XF86Config . Probably the
100 is listed before the 75. X will use the first suitable font it finds.
