debian shipped more secure in the future?

Was curious.

bind has well documented easy to impliment ways to run as non root and
in chroot().
sendmail has an easy way to run many tasks as non root

however defaults in debian don't take advantage of any of this, its not
hard for people to add but it would be nice if the debs defaulted to the
more secure behavior to help the newbies. apache does come
pre-configured to run as non root ..

is there any disavantage to doing this ??
