My bad.  I'd upgraded both to potato just prior to the 2.2 release.

One suggestion I've recieved is that the NIC is incorrectly specified.
Not sure if this is or isn't the case.

From /proc/pci:

	PCI devices found:

		  Medium devsel.  Fast back-to-back capable.  IRQ 9.  Master
	Capable.  Latency=64.  
		  I/O at 0xee00.

Support appears to be compiled-in, no modules listed.

According to /boot/config-2.0.36, it appears to be an old Tulip driver:
