Re: automatically turning off power and shutdown??

you must compile the kernel with APM support.

i would reccomend against turning off a computer often, powering on a
system gives quite a surge of power which can increase wear on the
components, ive always kept my boxes on 24/7 since around 94. i also
reccomend against disk spindowns but that is because back in 1995 i lost 4
drives in 6 months(all brand new) due to disk spindowns.
