Kernel 2.4.0-test1 - ipchains problem

Hi

I know it's the bleeding edge and maybe I should stay away but anyway I
wanted the support for my on-board sound card (and yes it works).

I've read that the new netfilter method should be able to operate in a
backward compatibility mode with ipchains - however I can not get it to
work. I've tried various combinations in 'Networking options' but sofar
not found the right combination - could anybody guide me.

PS: Apart from this problem I've sofar not experienced any problems with
2.4.0 - both isdn, samba etc worked right away.
