Re: sound-problems

You might try moving the modules directory to a different name and then
make modules_install again. For example:

mv /lib/modules/2.2.14 /lib/modules/2.2.14-old
make modules_install

This will create a fresh modules directory in /lib/modules. It probably
won't make any difference, but it just takes a minute. Also, you must
do "modprobe sound" first, before installing any of the other modules
via insmod. After you modprobe sound, type "cat /proc/modules" and make
sure the sound module is listed there before installing the other
modules. Finally, you should make sure you have loadable module support
compiled into the kernel. To check this, run "make xconfig" and look at
"loadable module support". I would say "y" to "enable loadable modules
support" and "kenel module loader". I am doubtful about all of these
suggestions, but at least they are quick and painless. Hopefully, you
get some responses that are more useful than this one.
