Does that mean you are doing this as root? If so, try doing it
as your regular user (in this case, as user fkent) and see what happens.
If that still doesn't work, do (as root):
ifconfig -a
route
and send us the output from those two.

/usr/bin/fetchmailconf *is* the GUI tool for fetchmail configuration as
near as I can tell. I've never used it. In fact I wasn't even aware it
existed until you mentioned it.
