Hi,
I got this controller working by installing Debian(slink upgraded to woody) on a standalone drive connected to a motherboard SCSI controller, AIC7xxx, then recompiling the kernel to include the DAC960 driver. Reboot and I can access the DAC960 drives. Now what I need to do is boot to the DAC960 drives.
What I have done so far is mounted the DAC960 drive, 'mount /dev/rd/c0d0 /mnt'.
Then I copied the necessary directories to /mnt.
Then copied a new DAC960 bootable LILO to /mnt/sbin
Edited /mnt/etc/lilo.conf to point boot/root to /dev/rd/c0d0
Edited /mnt/etc/fstab and setup the mount point for /dev/rd/c0d0 to /
This of course didn't work.
I then tried to create a bootable partition, it added a p1 to the device name. Do I need to do the above steps to point to the partition unstead of to just the device? One thing, when I created the partition and made it bootable and the wrote to the table, the existing data on the drive was still there. Do I need to mke2fs the partition?
What am I missing? It would be so much easier if I could put the Debian(slink) rescue disk in and start the install on the DAC960 initially. The driver is not included on this disk. How could I do it this way? Can I build a new rescue disk, Setup program, with the new driver?
Thanks for any help,
Jeff
