Spot on! Removing the interface binding means it works but I assume this
means everyone on the Internet has access to the share which is not what I
wanted. smb.conf reads :
#Global parameters
debug level = 3
netbios name = gateway
workgroup = workgroup
server string = %h server (Debian)
#interfaces = 192.1.1.0/24
#bind interfaces only = yes
share modes = yes
domain master = yes
time server = yes
os level = 40
The particular client is using public IP numbers for internal LAN (!) which
will change on Friday. Probably move to 10.0.0.0/24 and I'll bind the samba
access to this range only.
