depends whether the load is cpu- or i/o-caused, in the former case you would be better off with a dual-processor machine, in the latter case you should probably spend your money in some celeron/amd/whatever cheap cpu and higher-performance peripherals (harddisk, scsi, maybe disk-striping...)
