Actually, I mistyped that paragraph.  What I meant was, that
powstatd, watching ttyS1, reports low power and shuts down.

I charged the UPS for 24 hours prior to connection, just to make
sure.

For "watch ttyS0"

CTS	DSR	DCD	RNG	  DTR	RTS	STATUS
 1       1	 0	 0	   0	 1	  OK
 1	 1	 0	 0	   0	 1	  OK
(etc.)

For "watch ttyS1"

 0	 0	 0	 0	   0	 1	  LOW
 0	 0	 0	 0	   0	 1	  LOW
(etc.)

Changing values (0 or 1) for DTR/RTS had no effect.  The lamp
I had plugged into the UPS never even blinked.  Although after
rereading the man page, it seems to say that the UPS may ignore
a -k command if fully charged.
