This worked. Thanks... However, taking this thread a bit
off-topic... I have a shell account at my university, and the OS there 
is Solaris. I often work remotely using xemacs.

So, the question is: besides "xterm-debian", is there a more universal 
TERM type, that xemacs recognizes?
