add your DNS's to /etc/resolv.conf :
nameserver 1.2.3.4
nameserver 5.6.7.8
if you dont know the Domain name servers of your isp its easiest to do a
WHOIS on the domain (from a machine that has a working DNS config) and
then resolve the names internic gives you and use them.
