I think you bought another winmodem. To expand on the last response, I would go by
the _general_ rule:
PCI Modem = Winmodem
Real Modem = External Modem
Now I'm sure you can get some PCI's to work, but I'm just betting you're tired of
going to the store. ;-)
Take a look at the hardware compatability docs.
