Re: Missing mail folder...

Mark:

Do you have this section in your exim.conf:

local_delivery:
  driver = appendfile
  group = mail
  mode = 0660
  mode_fail_narrower = false
  file = /var/spool/mail/${local_part}

I assume that exim is smart enough to create the file if it doesn't
already exist. Maybe something else is preventing mail from
being delivered to the new machine. Check the exim logs for
sign of an error.

The file /var/spool/mail/<user> holds incoming mail messages,
in some standard Unix mail format. I think it's all ASCII, though,
so you could cat the file and see exactly what's in it.

Hi everyone,

I was trying to set up another box, and when all was done, I
couldn't send/receive mail. Well, I could send it, but I couldn't
receive it. mutt complained that there was no
/var/spool/mail/username. I don't remember doing anything different
this installation. I set up exim like always. What's supposed to go
into /var/spool/mail--files, folders? Or better yet, what program
sets that up?

With this machine. I've done a CD install of slink, which I then
upgraded to potato.

Any ideas?

Thanks
