java for Office51 (was Re: installing StarOffice 5.1a for Linux)

The standard slink jdk only includes green_threads, but Star Office
requires native_threads.

You can get everything you need from:

  ftp://ftp.progsoc.uts.edu.au/pub/Linux/java/JDK-1.1.7/i386/glibc/v1a/

(or try other mirrors, see:
    http://www.blackdown.org/java-linux/mirrors.html)

You need:
  jre_1.1.7-v1a-glibc-x86.tgz
  jre_1.1.7-v1a-glibc-x86-native.tgz

You might be able to install the .deb and just unpack the -native.tgz
tarball on top of it. I didn't try that.

I unpacked the two tarballs in /opt/java and my ~/Office51/sofficerc
has at the top:

[Java]
Home=/opt/java/jre117_v1a
Version=1.1.7
RuntimeLib=/opt/java/jre117_v1a/lib/i386/native_threads/libjava.so
SystemClasspath=/opt/java/jre117_v1a/lib/rt.jar:/opt/java/jre117_v1a/lib/i18n.jar:/opt/java/jre117_v1a/lib
Java=1

[NOTE: That SystemClasspath needs to be one line in case your mail
reader wrapperd the long line.]

I think I did the java installation through Star Office, but you can
just exit Star Office and add the above directly to your sofficerc.

Your Star Office web browser will be able to play java applets.
