     I run enlightenment.  In an Eterm (or xterm), try

gnome-panel &

...not sure, since I don't have the panel installed again, yet, but
I think that's it.  You can run it from a term or insert the line (above)
just before the enlightenment start line in your .xsession file, if you
are running xdm.
