Re: pinging a domain name



add the DNS servers to /etc/resolv.conf

e.g.
nameserver 1.2.3.4
nameserver 5.6.7.8

to find your isp's name servers ask them or do a WHOIS on their
domain.  test it by using the nslookup utility (nslookup www.debian.org
for ex.)
