No, set it in XF86Config:

Identifier "Primary Card"
VendorName "Unknown"
BoardName "Matrox Millennium G200 8MB"
Option "power_saver"
VideoRam 8192
Of course, your board, video ram, etc... will differ.
You can set the timeouts under the Screen sections. See man X for info
on setting the blanking, standby, etc. times... Not all
server/video/monitor set-up support DPMS though.
