eth1 can't be loaded

Hi all,

Does this look like a hardware failure on a NIC? I'm getting a little
desperate now as the kids will be most upset if they can't browse the
Teletubbies sites over the weekend!

enterprise:/lib/modules/2.0.36/net# ifconfig eth1 10.0.0.25 netmask
255.255.255.
0 broadcast 10.0.0.25
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Resource temporarily unavailable
enterprise:/lib/modules/2.0.36/net# cat /etc/modules
# /etc/modules: kernel modules to load at boot time.
#
# This file should contain the names of kernel modules that are
# to be loaded at boot time, one per line. Comments begin with
# a `#', and everything on the line after them are ignored.
# An entry named `auto' will cause the system to start kerneld immediately.
# Kerneld then loads modules on demand. `noauto' disables kerneld
completely.
