HELP: setting up vgetty + searching solution for phone service

Hello,

i wanted to use my 1&1voice modem (Rockwell chipset) for an answering
machine.... in the mgetty-voice REDME is written that i would find examples
and infos under /usr/doc/voice.... the dir is present but empty....

so how do i record samples to be played how do i lesten to them and mor
important how do i set the vgetty up to be able to use the computer as an
answering machine??

Further is it possible to listen while recording?

And other thing, it would be nice to set up a sort of semi intelligent
system...

i would like to set up a sort of phone service where after getting the
communication i navigate in a decision tree using the numerical touches of the
telephone pad ...

now as far as i could extract form the vgetty configuration file whne DTMF
tones were detected it is posible to call a script.... but now i would like a
more persistent thing, since the script has to remember the position in the
decision tree...... so is there somewhere a solution to this or how wold be
the best way to implement such a solution??
