Not sure if it's documented anywhere or where i came up with it, but
setting the environment variable QTDIR to /usr/lib/qt2 makes the configure
script find everything perfectly... Using the --with options just makes it
say "yes" without checking at all (contrary to the impression the help
message gives), you'd then have to edit the Makefile to fill in the
paths...

For example,
  # export QTDIR=/usr/lib/qt2
