Why not just:
# echo "deb http://http.us.debian.org/ potato main" >> /etc/apt/sources.list
# apt-get update
# apt-get install dhcpcd kernel-image-2.2.10
# perl -npi~ -e '!m/ potato /' /etc/apt/sources.list
This will give you the minimum number of packages from the Potato
distribution that will let you run dhcpcd and the 2.2 kernel.
