I have had outstanding luck with the Mylex FlashPoint controllers. They
work with any kernel. (Select BusLogic support). The AIC7xxx controllers
such as the Adaptec 2940UW have had some weirdness with diver and kernel
versions. Sometimes they work as expected, sometimes they are cranky.) The
other ones I have had pretty good luck with are true symbios 53C8XX
series but they have recently shown some problems when used as a module
(say as a second controller) and the disk is accessed after the module is
unloaded. This is being worked on by the kernel developers.

I have never had a problem with the Mylex (formerly Bus Logic) controllers
and never hear of any on the kernel list either.
