Netelligent, still problems

Hi to all,

unfortunately, I still can't get this netelligent card working. I installed the base
system from the base-floppies and also found a 2.0.34-based tlan.o (now in my
/lib/modules/2.0.34/net/ directory). But on issuing the command
insmod tlan
nothing happens afterwards (also error messages). No network.
The command

ifconfig eth0

results in

eth0 unknown interface

I'm not an expert at all (You probaly recognized it :-)).
What to do???

I also tried to use a 3c509 card, which used to work in another Linux-PC (Compaq
Deskpro 66L). But here on
insmod 3c509
I got
device or resource busy.

Is there something special which has to be setup in the Compaq-Setup/BIOS and/or with
insmod like "Bus Mastering" or "Bus Priority", Interupts, io-adresses ??
