I currently use this exact setup. You need to install the diald package as well as
ppp. The main thing is getting diald configured. One main pointer I can give you here
is to *not* try to use pon/poff to diald the connection up as this will not work.
Once you get diald so it will bring up the connection you can twiddle with the
settings which control how much idle time it allows, etc. Let me know if you get
stuck.
