Indeed. There are lots of ugly music packages out there. I don't think
many of them particularly intuitive to use.

That would be cool, although a lot of work probably.

Err, your milage may vary there :-) I do have a Mac IIcx or something
(it's second hand and a bit custom) with a 68040-25 and 36mb RAM,
but all it runs is MacOS 8.1 for now.

Some day I may port some of the music sources I have developed
to Java. Includes some moderately decent notation display (although not
suitable for a full-on notation package), as well as a MIDI file reader,
Windows MIDI player, and some other stuff. Could be fun.
