OK, when you get the 'boot:' prompt from the rescue disk type
linux root=/dev/hda2
This will boot the kernel off the floppy but use your hard drive as the
root file system. Lilo should work fine from there. Be sure that
/vmlinuz points to /boot/vmlinuz-2.0.34
