Strange thing is that I can boot from a rescue disk, but it won't let me mount the same disk once Linux is up and running. I ran into this problem with Hamm. I could boot the floppy but could not mount it. I think I had to go back to an old system and make teh /dev/fd0h1440 device and symlink it to /dev/fd0 to get it to work.
