emusic DR0.8 hangs

I have never been able to get emusic to do anything except hang as
follows:

telmer:~$ emusic 
This is eMusic DR0.8, (c) 1997-1999 Isaac Richards
  Comments/suggestions?  Find me on efnet as Chutt.

That's all it does and just stays there. Do I need to explicitly specify a
skin? Any ideas what I am doing wrong? I have the following versions of
related packages installed:

ii  emusic          0.8-1          MP3, MOD, WAV, AU, and CD player
ii  emusic-data     0.8-1          Default theme and graphics files for eMusic.
ii  emusic-docs     0.8-1          eMusic documentation.
ii  enlightenment-c 0.15-19990125  The Enlightenment Window Manager
ii  enlightenment-c 0.15-19990125  All documentation for Enlightenment and its 
ii  enlightenment-c 0.15-19990125  Themes pictures and config files need by the
ii  esound          0.2.7-0.199902 Enlightened Sound Daemon - Support binaries
