    It said it had dependancy problems with apt, right?  So... did you check
apt?  I'm willing to bet you didn't...

Package: apt
Depends: libc6 (>= 2.0.7u), libstdc++2.9
         ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

    If memory serves.  2.0.7u is > 2.0.7-19981211-1.  IE, upgrade your libc
package to the current version because, well, apt depends on it.  :)
