kernel compilation and as86?
folks,
i am trying to compile a 2.0.34 kernel and getting the following
error message:
as86 -0 -a -o bootsect.o bootsect.s
make[1]: as86: Command not found
now i've compiled kernels often enough and never run in to this
problem before. the assembler installed from binutils is /bin/as
and it does not understand any of the flags in the Makefile for as86.
what changed? any ideas, clues, rtfms (with a pointer to the fm)
are very welcome.
thanks in advance,
//daryl
