Rather than that you could leeve them compressed thereby saving sapce,
and
gzcat wherever/whatever.gz | less

run dselect and search for xbase, install that and xfnt* and
xserver-svga and xvwm*
and whatever other interessting things (or stuff thats required by any
of those
things) that you find in that section. Use hamm not slink - slink has
big problems
in X.
