You should ask on the mutt-dev list, www.mutt.org is set up, the list
would probably mutt-dev@mutt.org but I'm not sure, please refer to
the web page. But please let them add support for gzip'ed mail folders
first. :) [it's only available as additional patch at the moment.]

I'm pretty sure you can specify the program that is run as spell checker.
Change it from "ispell" to "LANG=nl_NL ispell" so ispell loads dutch
maps - I hope ispell understands this...
