Meaning of "Failed Intel bug check"?

I have installed Debian 2.0 on a SONY Vaio PCG-505F.
Upon boot, I see the following line

     ppa: Failed Intel bug check.  (Phoney EPP in ECP).

Does anyone know what the line means - or what program
is causing this message so that I can investigate further?
