To start up pppd I just typed pppd at the #

Just a minute ago I ran wvdial again (as root) and got the same thing. It dialed my
ISP and connected file ( I have the modem sound turned on) It saw the login and
password and sent the apropriate stuff. It then said starting ppp. The next line is
PPP deamon has died and it then hangs back up.

a tail of /var/log/ppp.log shows the following.

Nov 20 12:45:32 edge pppd[251]: Failed to open /dev/ttys2: Input/output error(5)
Nov 20 12:45:32 edge pppd[251]: This system lacks kernel support for PPP. This could
be because the PPP kernel module is not loaded, or because the kernel is not
configured for PPP. See the README.linux file in the ppp-2.3.5 distribution.

HEY!!!! I just noticed the lower case s in ttys2... I changed it to ttyS2 in
/etc/ppp/options and now it is connecting and staying connected. I am not able to
ping or telnet or ftp anything by name or by IP but at least ppp daemon seems to be
working.

What files do I have to set up to user wvdial. My ISP sent me some scripts to connect
using chat and I have them all in but wvdial seems to not be seeing them. When I run
the scripts from my ISP I get the same thing.... connect and login but unable to see
the internet.

I have set up /etc/resolv.config with :
domain eskimo.com#
nameserver 204.122.16.8
nameserver 2.4.122.16.9

There are now now error in /var/log/ppp.log other then my killing ppp with a kill -1
when I want to hang up.
