md5sum error while installing pine3.96

I have tried to install pine 3.96 twice. Once from a cd; when that gave a
 md5sum error I downloaded the .deb file and did dpkg -i on it. I then
  went to /usr/src/pine and did dpkg-source -x  pine_3.96M-1.dsc and
  got the message

      dpkg-source: error: file pine_3.96M.orig.tar.gz has md5sum f92012eca4422b
8e7e6029a498471e85 instead of expected bf32b0bf1296ff2151e1bc7f546d43ab

This was the same error I got the first time. Any advice?
