The outgoing news spool for slrnpull is /var/spool/slrnpull/out.going/
I don't know if emacs can be configured to use it. Slrn has special support
for using that directory, it's non-standard and other newsreaders may not be
able to use it. Slrnpull was mostly written to work with slrn.

You may find leafnode better suited to your purposes. (Especially the
version currently in debian's unstable, which can be configured to not make
a huge mess of hardlinks like leafnode typically does.)
