| Hallo again,
| during my fiddling this weekend trying to get Quake to work, I've
| changed some permissions
| somewhere and I don't know where. If I do "man smail" as root I get the man
| page. If I do
| "man smail" as a normal user I get the message:
|
| Can't create a temporary filename: Permission denied
|
| But I don't know where man is trying to create it's temp files. Any
| suggestions ?

That would be /tmp. It should be (believe it or not!)

[olet@niels-henrik] ~/debian> ls -ld /tmp
drwxrwxrwt 8 root root 12288 Oct 13 00:49 /tmp

The only way tcsh "rocks" is when the rocks are attached to it's feet
in the deepest part of a very deep lake. (Linus Torvalds)
