This isn't the same as the previous email where you said it wouldn't
connect.

Have you subscribed to any groups within gnus? I doubt gnus and trn
use the same newsgroup file.

By the way, all of this is covered in the excellent gnus info
pages. You might want to read that before posting any further
questions.
